So yesterday was my husband’s birthday, and I did make the trek in sub zero temperatures to the grocery store to get all of the makings for his birthday cake. I had found a recipe for flourless chocolate cake in my favorite cookbook, and it turned out so awesome, better than I had expected. We also had my famous veggie chili (from the same cookbook, as it turns out) and a nice evening, until the Patriots lost, and there was much swearing to be heard in Cambridge.
Other than that, not much going on, except that my husband and 2 of his co-workers are taking a prospective new-hire at their firm out to dinner tonight. I inquired if spouses were invited and unfortunately they are not. So, he will be having a nice dinner out, and I will be hitting the gym and eating leftover chili. Which is fine by me. Yum. In my opinion, chili is better as leftovers. Weird, I know.
Tomorrow, the last day of my work week and we have an agency Christmas gathering which lasts about 1/2 hour. Tomorrow night, I am taking my husband to Fire and Ice (his favorite restaurant) for his birthday (yes, apparantly it is a multi-day celebratory event) and then Thursday, we are finishing our Christmas shopping. I think we will start the day with a late breakfast on Charles St. at my favorite brunch spot, and then progress over to the Newbury St./Copley area to separate and finish shopping.
I’m having a hard time deciding what to get him. He doesn’t read my blog, so I can tell you that for his birthday, I got him a zippered hooded sweatshirt and gloves, but for Christmas, I am at a bit of a loss. He doesn’t really need a thing, my mom and sister both got him clothes, I wanted to get him an overcoat but I haven’t found one that I really liked yet. I got him a briefcase as a wedding gift, which he really needed. Anything he needs, for the most part, he buys himself. So, I need help. Suggestions are MORE than welcome!
And yes, we are both procrastinators. Picky perfectionists who wait until the last possible minute to do anything.
